Pics from the episode:
Vince would be known as “Vince Lupton” for most of his childhood - reflecting the name of his Stepfather, Leo Luption, who his mother married 2 years after his birth.
A lot would change for Vince Jr. when he met his dad, Vince Sr.
By the 1960s, a few years after Vince Jr met his father, Vince Sr. was running the World Wrestling Federation, which, despite the name, was basically Northeast region Professional Wrestling promotion. Still, it was one of the biggest of all the promotions at the time.
"Had my father known what I was going to do", the younger McMahon told Sports Illustrated in 1991, "he never would have sold his stock to me.
Vince invents modern professional wrestling, but is even more creative when inventing the legend of Vince McMahon.
Vince and Linda moved their family to an exclusive gated community in Greenwich, Connecticut, called Conyers Farm in February of 1985—just a few weeks before WrestleMania. They reportedly outfitted the house with chandeliers, jeweled tchotchkes, and even a painting of Vince riding a Harley against a backdrop of violet clouds. - Ringmaster, Josie Riesman
“Steroids work,” Vince would say in an Esquire interview, years later. “When I took steroids back in my forties, I could feel a tremendous difference.”
The McMahons plead their case and bribed enough lawmakers that wrestling was deregulated pretty quickly across the country. On the other hand, Kayfabe is dead and this is kind of the final nail in the coffin for the old traditions of professional wrestling.
You bring cocaine into the picture. Somebody gives [a wrestler] an eight-ball of coke. Well, he goes, I’m up. I’m eating. Okay, here’s my buddies. I’ll have some drinks. Holy hell, it’s four o’clock? “What time’s your plane?” “Seven!” “When do you need to get up?” “Five-thirty!” “Ah!” Does a line, gets on the plane. It’s time to fight: Psssh, no downers there. No, let’s go. But it’d be nice to have a little painkiller in ya as you go in. Or a lot. And whooom. - Roderick George Toombs, better known as "Rowdy" Roddy Piper
Vince escaped regulation, he escaped sexual assault charges, he escaped worker safety lawsuits, but he was about to meet the only antagonist that couldn’t be shushed with a mouthful of money - Nancy Regan.
Vince looks around and realizes he has all these drugs and by morning, they’ve gotta be gone. He knows what he has to do. THROW AN EPIC RAGER!!!!!!!
Vince McMahon vs. Ted Turner
THe WWE became a publicly traded company on October 19th, 1999 and Vince becomes a billionaire.
But in 2022, FINALLY… FINALLY Vince will face the consequences of his actions.
Vince steps down
The real crime is that moustache!
